Almost everyone falls victim to clutter at one point or another. For me it is most winters... I get busy with holiday planning, baking, entertaining, traveling, visiting, and the habitual minor organizing that keeps me ahead of things comes to a grinding halt! The cold keeps me snuggled under a blanket with a hot cocoa and Ruby warming my feet as she lays on them. There is little (a.k.a. "no") desire to declutter and organize anything...unless, of course, you count moving the marshmallows in my mug around and them slurping one up at a time...
This break in the cold has left me with an overwhelming urge to purge!!! I have been going through our house on my extra time and cleaning out closets and spice cupboards and "everything" drawers! I can't believe the energy you get when you start decluttering. It is like I am on a rampage to get everything done...to make everything...lighter. Just as the coats become less heavy, our home does. I am really happy this has set in - until now I had been caught up in an interior funk... I just took down our Christmas decor 2 weeks ago! Now everything is organized and safely stored away, furniture has been rearranged, one room has even been re-designed and the energy is flowing much better in the space! February is always the greatest month for me to do personal decluttering - it tends to be the month before the staging craze sets in!
I would recommend to everyone to declutter each spring and fall season. And try to take advantage of time now because as soon as the really nice weather hits, you are not going to want to be inside shuffling through your kitchen drawers...
Happy Valentines everyone!!!
